The Extractor is the premium version of our Single 120mm 12V Powered Canopy Vent — a purpose-built, filtered powered 12V exhaust vent for the rear of a 4x4 canopy, and just as at home in a caravan, camper trailer or van. We took the same proven two-part design and, based on customer feedback, refined it into three parts so the filter is now a genuinely serviceable polyurethane foam air filter. It's also made stronger than the Single and upgraded where it counts: an industrial-grade IP67 Noctua fan, a stainless steel fan guard and a filter you can clean or change in minutes.
If the Single is the vent most builds start with, The Extractor is the one for builds that work hard — dusty corrugations, a fridge running all day, long trips and wet weather.
This is an exhaust vent. It works best with an intake elsewhere, so air has somewhere to come from — see The Original. A powered exhaust drawing against a passive intake gives you a genuine push-pull cross-flow rather than just stirring the air around.
Why it's the premium option
- Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 IP67 fan — Noctua's industrial range, rated IP67 for water and dust, spinning to 2000 RPM with a rated airflow of 121.8 m³/h and an MTTF of more than 150,000 hours
- Replaceable 10 mm Uni filter — 45 PPI Unifilter polyurethane air filter foam, the same type of filter media trusted in off-road air intakes, compressed into the housing so air can't bypass it. Clean it out or replace it — built to be serviced
- Stainless steel fan guard — protects the fan and fingers, and won't rust in coastal or wet conditions
- Quick filter change — just two bolts to remove. The fan box tilts up on a built-in hinge, you clean or swap the foam, and lower it back down. No unsealing, no removing the vent from the panel
- Printed stronger — thicker walls, higher infill and a larger print nozzle for better layer adhesion, so the parts are tougher than the Single's and better able to handle corrugations, knocks and heat
Features
- Three-way control — always on, temperature activated with an adjustable thermostat, or fully off to conserve battery
- Plug and play — built-in 5.5 x 2.1 mm DC power jack with a right-angle connector supplied, no wiring loom to make up
- Low profile — the outer housing stands just 42 mm off the panel at its highest and slopes away toward the top
- Downward-facing louvres on the outer housing, so rain and dust are not driven straight into the opening
- Glass fibre reinforced — ASA-Glass Fibre outer housing, UV stable and heat resistant, with an ABS-Glass Fibre inner fan box
- Black — white coming later, or available by request
- Suits 4x4 canopies, caravans, camper trailers, vans, trailers and fixed structures
- Australian made, with free postage Australia-wide
How it works
The assembly is in three parts. The outer housing sits on the outside of the panel and stays low-profile. The Inner to Outer Vent Mount clamps to it through the panel, so the vent stays sealed in place. The fan box locates onto the mount and carries the Noctua fan, the stainless guard and the control electronics in their own sealed compartment under a snap-fit lid. Because the fan box is a separate part, you can open it to reach the filter without disturbing the seal on the panel.
The fan draws hot air out of the canopy, through the 10 mm Uni filter, and pushes it out through the outer housing. Because the outer housing's louvres face downward, water running down the panel and dust thrown up off the road are far less likely to be driven into the opening — and when the fan is off, the foam is a second barrier against fine dust.
A hinge at the top of the Inner to Outer Vent Mount and two M6 cap head bolts at the bottom secure the fan box firmly in place, clamping the filter foam evenly all the way round.
Set the switch to always on for constant extraction, or to temperature activated and the adjustable thermostat will cycle the fan as things heat and cool. Switch it off entirely when you are parked up and want to protect the battery.
Who it's for
- Regular dirt road and corrugation travel, where fine dust is the enemy and a cleanable, replaceable filter earns its keep
- Running a fridge all day — a fridge working against trapped heat draws more current and cycles harder
- Coastal, wet and humid use, where an IP67 fan and stainless guard hold up better over time
- Caravans, camper trailers and vans — storage tunnels, boots and front boxes that trap heat and stale air
- Anyone who wants to fit it once and not think about it again

Fitting
We recommend taping the Inner Mount 1:1 drilling template to the inside of the panel, so you can see the canopy frame and any internal beams (the Outer Vent template is also supplied if you prefer to mark from the outside — both mark the same holes). Drill the seven 5 mm fixing holes, cut the main hole with a 114 mm hole saw, then trim the shaded corners to the finished 120 x 120 mm cutout (R37 corners). Then:
- Apply sealant around the mating face of the outer vent housing.
- Place the outer housing on the outside of the canopy with the louvres facing downward — fitting it the wrong way up will let water in.
- From inside the canopy, run a small bead of sealant around the main opening on the face of the Inner to Outer Vent Mount that sits against the panel, and put a dab of sealant around each bolt hole. Then bolt the mount through the panel into the outer housing with the seven M5 stainless button head bolts, clamping the panel between them.
- Fit the filter and hold it in place.
- Fit the fan box onto its hinge at a slight angle, push it down and secure it with the two M6 cap head bolts. Don't overtighten them — a small drop of low-strength Loctite is recommended.
Power is plug and play through the DC jack. As with every electrical component in a canopy or caravan, fuse it — we recommend a 5 A fuse. A full installation guide is included in the box.
Changing the filter
Just two bolts to remove. Undo the two M6 cap head bolts at the bottom of the fan box and tilt the fan box up on its hinge. Lift out the foam and either clean it out or drop in a fresh 10 mm Uni filter, then lower the fan box back down and refit the bolts. The vent stays sealed to the panel the whole time.
How often depends on your conditions — check it more often if you travel dusty roads. Replacement filters: coming soon.
Often bought with
- The Original — side-mount intake pair, for a true push-pull cross-flow
- Replacement Uni filter (coming soon) — keep a spare in the glovebox
- Dual Cable Inlet — weatherproof cable pass-through for the power feed
Important to note
The IP67 rating belongs to the Noctua fan. The complete vent assembly has not been independently tested or rated. Any opening cut into a canopy, caravan or structure has the potential to leak if it is incorrectly installed, not properly sealed, submerged, or exposed to high-pressure water such as a pressure washer or car wash. You are responsible for correct installation, sealing, and periodic inspection for wear, damage and seal integrity.
Frequently asked questions
What makes The Extractor the premium option over the Single 120mm?
Five upgrades: an industrial Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 fan rated IP67 for water and dust, a replaceable 10 mm 45 PPI Uni filter, a stainless steel fan guard, a hinged fan box that makes filter changes a two-bolt job, and stronger printed parts.
Is The Extractor IP67 rated?
The fan is. Noctua rates the NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 IP67 for water and dust. The complete vent assembly has not been independently tested, so correct installation and sealing still matter.
What filter does it use?
A 10 mm Unifilter polyurethane air filter foam rated at 45 PPI (pores per inch), cut to fit and compressed between the Inner to Outer Vent Mount and the fan box so air can't bypass it. It can be cleaned out or replaced. Replacement filters are coming soon.
How do I change the filter?
Just two bolts to remove. Undo them, tilt the fan box up on its hinge, clean or swap the foam and lower it back down. There's no need to remove the vent from the panel.
How often should I change the filter?
It depends on your conditions. Check it more often if you travel dusty roads, and clean it out or replace it when it looks clogged.
Do I need a fuse?
Yes. All electrical components in a 4x4 canopy should be fused. Even though The Extractor draws very little power, it is no exception. We recommend a 5 A fuse.
How does the temperature control work?
The same way as our Single 120mm. A built-in three-way switch lets you choose always on, temperature activated, or off. In temperature mode, the adjustable thermostat turns the fan on as things heat up and off as they cool. Power is plug and play through the 5.5 x 2.1 mm DC jack, with a right-angle connector supplied.
What is The Extractor made from?
The outer housing is ASA-Glass Fibre — UV stable, impact resistant and heat resistant enough not to warp in a closed canopy in summer. The inner fan box is ABS-Glass Fibre, and the fan guard and mounting bolts are stainless steel.
What colours is it available in?
Black to start with. White is coming later and is available by request.
