Crossflow – Filtered Ute Canopy Intake & Exhaust Vent

The Crossflow is a directional filtered air vent for ute canopies and caravan storage tunnels where there is no room to mount a rear vent. Supplied as a driver's side and passenger's side pair, it creates a complete cross-flow on its own: air in one side, out the other.

It came directly out of listening to customers who had nowhere left to put an exhaust vent.

How it differs from The Original

The driver's side keeps The Original design, with intake holes facing forward. The passenger's side is the modified one:

• Exhaust holes face rearward, creating a venturi effect that draws air out as you drive
• The angled internal bottom is reversed so drainage still works with the holes facing the other way
• The drain hole is relocated to suit that reversed geometry
• Internal slip-in square nuts replace heat inserts

How it works

The driver's side vent faces forward. As the vehicle moves, air is forced through its angled intake holes, past the screen and filter, and into the canopy.

The passenger's side vent faces rearward. Air moving past those openings creates a low-pressure area behind them — the venturi effect — which pulls air out of the canopy rather than pushing it in. The result is a continuous circuit: fresh air enters on the driver's side, stale hot air leaves on the passenger's side, and the canopy keeps turning its air over without a rear vent anywhere in the build.

Because the passenger's side runs in reverse, its internal floor angle is flipped and the drain hole moved, so water still finds its way out instead of pooling inside the housing.

Fitting

Two hole-marking templates are supplied, so the 76 mm round cutout and the 5 mm bolt holes can be marked accurately before you cut. A standard 76 mm hole saw suits the main opening on both sides. Fit the driver's side vent with its intakes facing forward and the passenger's side with its exhausts facing rearward — the pair only works as a cross-flow if they are oriented correctly. Printed instructions are included in the box.

Important to note

Any opening cut into a canopy has the potential to leak if it is incorrectly installed, not properly sealed, submerged, or exposed to high-pressure water such as a pressure washer or car wash.
